Throughout the 2015/16 school year, educators in our District continued to come together to share ideas, best practices and engaging lessons that would bring the new curriculum alive in our classrooms. This year it will be fully implemented throughout BC from kindergarten to grade 9. The Ministry of Education will continue to work closely with school districts on finalizing the redesigned curriculum for grades 10-12, which is expected to be implemented in the Fall of 2017.
To learn more about the new curriculum and its implementation, please visit our district website to read a letter from Minister of Education, Mike Bernier.
The first day of school for students in Grade 1-7 for the 2016/2017 school year is Tuesday, September 6th, 2016 for one hour only. All returning students will return to their classrooms from last year until our classes are reorganized. New students are asked to come to the gym where they will be assigned to a class until our classes are reorganized.
Full days (8:55 a.m. to 3:01 p.m.) for students in Grades 1-7 will begin on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016.
Kindergarten students will have a gradual entry schedule for the first two weeks of school. Please see the Kindergarten gradual entry schedule here. On the first day of school parents of Kindergarten students must sign up for an intake meeting with the kindergarten teacher(s) in the school gymnasium.
